A gleaming sun appearing in the middle of a rain shower
makes the raindrops’ circular ripples stand out boldly.
It also makes us realize that paradox is a natural event;
one that we can expect in our own lives, such as feeling melancholy
when the day appears perfectly fine
or experiencing a warm sense of peace after misfortune.
I will remember this image and words next time I’m hit with that inexplicable melancholia when there “should” be no reason for it. Just BE comfortable with the paradox. I am reminded of the lyrics by the blues singer, Rick Fines ” I find comfort in the arms of what will be”
Great line, Paul, especially if Suzie Vinnick is helping to deliver it!
So true about the paradox, both with nature and feelings.I loved to play in the rain as a kid, especially when it was a sun shower! Like the way the ripples stand out in the sunlight…
Sun shower – I love that name. Wish I’d remembered it when I was writing this. Thanks Jane.
